BIOGRAPHY
I was born in Indianapolis in 1954 to a musical family. My parents found it important to give all five of their kids musical training, so I was introduced to the piano at a young age. After one year of college at Indiana University, I joined my first band in Bloomington, Indiana in 1973. In 1975, an old college friend called to offer me an opportunity to audition for a band called Georgia Brown, and I jumped at the chance. After hitchhiking 300 miles to Nashville, I landed the job. My first experience in the studio was recording a single with Georgia Brown, and when I sat down at that grand piano and put the headphones on, my mind was blown.
1976 brought my first gig on the Grand Ole Opry, and the networking began. In 1978, on my first trip to Europe, I met rockabilly legend Carl Perkins. A month after returning to the states, he called and asked me to play piano in his band.
I have since been blessed with the opportunity to work with and travel the world with some other iconic artists, including Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire. Aside from touring, I have spent countless hours in the recording studio, which remains my favorite creative outlet.
It has been my great joy to raise my family here, and to work with the greatest musicians on the planet in a town I fell in love with so many years ago.
